Director Dianne Whelan will be in attendance at 20 screenings across New Zealand to release 500 Days in the Wild.

DIANNE WHELAN

Dianne Whelan is an award-winning Canadian Documentary filmmaker, accomplished photographer, artist, storyteller, author, and public speaker. She is the owner Rebel Sister Productions, a film production company.

She has directed and produced three award-winning films on Mt. Everest, the Canadian High Arctic, and on the longest trail in the world. Dianne has also written, directed, and produced a three-part series for CBC, a Gemini-nominated interactive website, written three books and has exhibited her photographs in numerous art galleries in her 30-year career as an artist and storyteller.

In August 2021 she completed the land and water trails of the 24,000 km Trans Canada Trail and is the first person and woman to do so. The journey is the subject of the film 500 Days in the Wild and the story of her latest book Lessons from 1862 Days In The Wild.

Her feature documentary 40 Days at Base Camp was shot on Mt. Everest and is accompanied by her book Base Camp:40 Days on Everest about her Mt. Everest experience.

Dianne’s book This Vanishing Land is based on her experience filming This Land (NFB) in Canada’s High Arctic.
