End of August and the arrival in Sydney NS from NL by ferry meant switching from bike to canoe – land to water. This required Dianne to come off the trail to prepare. We were very fortunate to be offered some nights accommodation at the Comfort Inn in Sydney by General Manage Erin Shea. The helpful staff provided access to a printer to ensure Dee had detailed paper maps of the Bras d’Or Lake coastline.

When Dianne and her bike finally researched New Glasgow two months later after getting lost in the back woods in Pictou County in a rain storm, the Comfort Inn again graciously provided accommodation for a night.

Very grateful indeed for the gift of a shower, laundry, warmth and a bed, a chance to charge batteries and backup footage, share the stories of the journey with locals and learn something about the generous individuals who work at the Comfort Inn.
